Where are you located?

The Attic at Waterman's is located on the second floor of Waterman's Surfside Grille, at the intersection of 5th Street and Atlantic Avenue. The Attic overlooks the bustling Virginia Beach boardwalk and offers panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean through our wall of 16 windows. Waterman's about 7 minutes from the Virginia Beach Convention Center, and approximately 30 minutes from Norfolk International Airport. Feel secluded in the Attic while overlooking the heart of the Virginia Beach oceanfront.

What is your capacity?

The Attic can seat between 72-83 guests with a dance floor, and up to 100 without a dance floor or mingling space.  A cocktail party set up with a blend of seating and high-top tables can accommodate up to 150 guests.  Please speak with a Special Events manager regarding capacity for specific events and layouts of the space, as each and every event is unique.


We can also accommodate guests in our main dining areas located throughout Waterman's Surfside Grille (on the first floor) for smaller groups from 10 up to 100. If you are looking for private or semi-private spaces, or outdoor facilities, please give us a call! We also have three sister locations - Chix on the Beach, Festival on 8th, and an outdoor oasis called The Shack on 8th.  Across these three facilities we can accommodate up to 500 guests. Just give us a ring about your event and we can find a space for you.

Do you have ample parking for my guests?

As an Oceanfront restaurant in a resort city, parking is at a premium at our location, however, we offer and recommend the complimentary valet parking service from right outside our door. Please be advised that our parking lot serves both special event and restaurant guests, so we cannot guarantee parking for each and every one of your guests. Depending on the size and date of your event, parking may be even more limited (i.e. summer months and special event weekends), but we do our best to park as many of your guests as possible. In the occasion that our lot fills up, our valets are happy to suggest alternate parking for your guests.

Can I bring my own alcoholic beverages or outside catering?

The Attic holds a full ABC license and is ready to provide your bar service needs, including staffing by our knowledgeable and friendly bartenders.  Our culinary team at Waterman's is skilled at producing not only delicious meals for our restaurant guests, but mouth-watering menus for events of all sizes in the Attic. Forget the stress - your venue, menu and bar are all taken care of when you choose the Attic for your next event!

How far in advance should I book my event?

Due to it's location and seasonal events, The Attic is a popular venue and books up fast. We suggest that you confirm your date and book your event as soon as possible so no one else beats you to it!

What do you require to hold my date?

We are glad to "pencil you in" for any open date in our calendar.  This non-binding hold allows you time to get your ducks in a row before putting down the deposit.  Once you're penciled in, you've secured first right of refusal, so we'll be in touch within 2-3 weeks or if we receive another inquiry about the date.  When you're ready to lock it in, the non-refundable deposit can be paid by dropping a check in the mail, or calling us with a credit card number over the phone.  Of course, we'd love to see you in person too, but feel free to save yourself a trip if it's more convenient for you.  You'll receive a confirmation invoice after the deposit is paid, acknowledging that your date is now "penned in" on our calendar...let the planning begin!

What happens if I need to change my date?

We understand event rescheduling may be necessary. If you are postponing more than 90 days prior to your event date, then your full deposit will be retained until another event is booked on that date, in which case the full deposit will be transferred to your new date. Your new date must be rescheduled within one year from your original date, based on availability, and a new deposit is required at that time to secure the new date. If we are not able to rebook the original date, your deposit will be forfeited. Should you need to postpone your event less than 90 days prior to your event date, then your deposit will be forfeited. Should you need to postpone your event after your food payment has been submitted (3-weeks prior), 50% of the food payment will be transferred to your new date and your deposit will be forfeited. Once the deposit is paid for your new date, you are responsible for meeting any updated food and beverage minimums. Events postponed within one week of the event date forfeits all payments. Some of your payments are non-refundable because of our staff’s hard work and since we were unable to rent the space to anyone else while it was reserved.

What happens if I need to cancel my event all together?

Events cancelled in The Attic forfeit the non-refundable deposit and any payments made.

Due to other scheduled events in the Attic, our space is shown by appointment only. Please give us a call at 757-963-2626 or contact us via our contact form to schedule a date and time that is convenient for you to view the Attic.  We'd love to give you a tour and answer any questions!
